Newmarket claim victory after epic comeback

A supreme opportunist goal by Donal Hannon late in the game, capped a superb Newmarket comeback in which they overturned an eight point half time deficit to clinch victory over Valley Rovers by 2-7 to 1-9 at Brinny on Sunday afternoon.

Newmarket defeated in 2008 league semi final

Newmarket suffered a narrow defeat against Valley Rovers in the replay of the intermediate football Division 3 league semi final for 2008, played at Cloughduv on Monday evening, the game ending 1-9 to 0-11 after an entertaining contest.

Season 2009 kicks off on Sunday

The new playing season gets underway on Sunday February 15th. The action starts in the Ducon Cup, with Newmarket playing away to Boherbue at 1pm.

Last year the juniors qualified for the knockout stages of the competition, eventually being beaten by Dromtarrife in the quarter final.

Division 3 semi final ends in a draw

Newmarket and Valley Rovers drew, 1-6 to 0-9 in the semi final of the intermediate football league, Division 3, played in horrendous conditions at the superb Cloughduv GAA complex on Friday evening.

Intermediate footballers maintain good league form

Newmarket concluded their preparations for next Saturday’s championship quarter final against Glenville, when they travelled to Brinny on Sunday to take on Valley Rovers and they emerged from the top of the table league contest with a fine victory by 2-11 to 1-7.

Newmarket were never in trouble

NEWMARKET qualified to meet either Grange or Douglas in the semi-final of the county junior football championship when they scored an easy win (1-11 to 0-5) over Valley Rovers at Coachford on Sunday. The Duhallow champions were in control right through the game and their margin would have been far greater if it hadn’t been for very erratic shooting.
