Defending champions Newmarket advanced to the semi final stages of the Duhallow under 21 football championship after claiming their second successive victory in the round robin series to duly finish top of their group, having travelled to Dromtariffe and defeated the home side by 0-12 to 1-3 on a fine Saturday afternoon.
Defending champions Newmarket began the defence of their Duhallow under 21 football championship with a fine victory away to Knocknagree on Sunday, a game in which they finished victorious by 1-11 to 0-6, on a fine afternoon for football.
Newmarket retained the Duhallow U-21 A Football Championship on Saturday last against Kanturk on a score line of 0-12 to 1-5. The reply, which was played a full seven months after the drawn final, was on in a perfect Rockchapel field. Newmarket have completed a two in a row now having won it last year against Boherbue, again after a replay. This is the eight U-21 title for the club.

The Newmarket under 21 football team advanced to the County Final tonight after beating Fermoy in Mallow on a scoreline of 1-11 to 0-07. Having led 0-08 to 0-03 at half time, Newmarket were never behind. They now meet St. Finbarrs in the decider.
