Newmarket defeated in Nevin Cup

Defending champions Newmarket advanced past the first round of the Nevin Cup when they travelled to Millstreet on Saturday evening and defeated the home side by a single point, 0-8 to 1-4.

Newmarket rounded off the playing season on the highest possible note, when they captured the Nevin Cup for the second time in four years and also the second time in the clubs history, with a dramatic, exciting victory over Knocknagree by 1-10 to 2-6 at the latters splendid` floodlit venue on Friday evening last.
Kevin O’Connor scored a magnificent free from long range and a difficult angle with the last kick of the game to claim a fine victory on a bitterly cold night.
Newmarket Junior footballers are contesting the Nevin Cup Final tonight, November 23rd 2007, at 8:00pm, under lights. The game is being played in Knocknagree, against the home team.
Newmarket Junior A Footballers produced a fine display in their final group game of the Nevin Cup against Boherbue to progress to the final of the competition. They overcame Boherbue on a score line of 1-11 to 1-3 in very tough conditions at Ballydesmond last Sunday.
Newmarket gained their second victory in their Nevin Cup group and go into their final game topping the group with four points from two games, after they defeated Kanturk by 2-12 to 1-7 under a floodlit Kiskeam on Tuesday evening, in a game played in perfect conditions.
