A committed and dedicated team effort enabled Newmarket to advance to the Fourth Round of the Premier Intermediate Football Championship for the first time in three years following a well earned victory over Grenagh by 1-11 to 1-8 in the Third Round encounter played at Mourne Abbey on Monday evening.
Newmarket completed preparations for next Sunday’s Premier Intermediate football championship game against Kiskeam (in Kanturk at 4pm) with a hard fought home league victory over Grenagh by 1-15 to 1-13 at Newmarket on Sunday evening.
Newmarket were defeated by Grenagh in the intermediate football league game played in splendid sunshine at Mallow on Sunday afternoon on a scoreline of 1-11 to 0-9.
A late Newmarket rally enabled them to clinch a point and maintain their unbeaten run in the league, when they drew 0-11 to 1-8 at home to Grenagh on Monday afternoon.
