Congratulations to Under 15 Hurlers and Under 13 Footballers

Congratulations to the Under 13 footballers who won the North Cork plate, in Dromtarriffe, on Saturday, the 18th of September, beating Doneraile on the day. 
 
Congratulations to the Under 15 hurlers who secured the North Cork U15 Division 2 plate, on Monday, the 20th September. Taking on Croke Rover in Kanturk, the Newmarket side ran out 5-05 to 0-12 winners, on the night.
 
Congratulations to all the players, their families and mentors. Áth Trasna Abú!

U16 Footballers win back door game

After suffering the narrow defeat to Kanturk two weeks ago the Newmarket U16 boys re-grouped to face Knocknagree, in Knocknagree, on a showery wet evening last Thursday (Sept 3rd) in the first round of the back door group in this years championship.

U16 Footballers lose championship first round

The Newmarket U16 footballers’ unbeaten run was ended on Friday night (14th August) in an enthralling and thrilling contest in the first round of the U16 football championship in Kanturk against Kanturk. From the start the atmosphere on the pitch was both nervous and intense, both teams finding it hard to settle, Newmarket had the advantage of the breeze in the first half but found it hard to capitalise on this advantage.

Big win for under 16s

The Newmarket under 16 footballers recorded a big win away to Croke Rovers yesterday evening. After last weeks excellent result against Boherbue, the Newmarket boys lined out against Croke Rovers in Castlemagner on a perfect evening for football.

Unlucky U-16s lose in the Final

The game got off to a lively start with the Boherbue full forward Denis McCarthy scoring 3 points in quick succession. This was answered in turn by a goal from Ian Flanagan of Newmarket. After this blistering start the game continued as a well contested affair with scores from both teams. Newmarket giving away a lot of frees in front of goals assisting the Boherbue effort, an Alan Forde goal before half time made sure that the Newmarket team finished the first half ahead by 3 points 2-5 to 0-8. U-16s Make it to the Final

After the heroics of Tuesday night the Newmarket boys now had to face Millstreet on a cold Friday evening in Millstreet under lights. Match started evenly enough with Newmarket going ahead first from an Ian Flanagan Point. It was pretty much even after that in the first half with Millstreet finishing perhaps the stronger side at half time. Millstreet hitting the post and had the ball cleared off the line by Brendan stack in a few shaky moments for the Newmarket team. Scores at half time were even thanks the the help of an Alan Forde goal. (more…)

U-16s Battle Back to Win Quarter Final

On a showery looking evening. Match got off to an even enough start with Knocknagree scoring the first point inside of five minutes, Newmarket replied with an Ian Flanagan goal. However that would be probably the only highlight of the first half for Newmarket, as any other chances of scores fell short and easy pickings for the Knocknagree defence to clear. Knocknagree proceeded to score some very impressive scores in a first half total of 11 points, half time 1-0 to 0-11.
