Second defeat for seniors in division 2

A disjointed display saw Newmarket’s senior footballers go down to a league defeat against Naomh Aban by 2-9 to 2-5 at Newmarket on a sunny Sunday afternoon before a sizeable attendance.

Second defeat in the Ducon Cup for the junior footballers

Despite a much improved second half performance, Newmarket went down to a second successive heavy defeat in the Ducon Cup, this time away to Dromtariffe by 2-15 to 0-6 on a bright but cool Saturday afternoon.

Disappointing start for juniors

Late brace of points prove crucial in defeat

A brace of points, late in each half proved crucial as Ballingeary edged out Newmarket by 0-9 to 0-7 in the opening series of games of the Division 2 Football League played on an excellent playing surface at Ballingeary on Sunday afternoon.

Seniors defeated after extra time

A last gasp point at the end of extra time enabled Douglas to progress to the semi finals of the Tadhg Crowley Plate, following a 1-8 to 1-7 victory over Newmarket’s senior footballers after a gripping game at Cloughduv last Thursday night.

Encouraging start for seniors

Newmarket’s senior footballers commenced their playing season with a long trek to the home of the current county champions Castlehaven for a Tadhg Crowley Cup encounter on Saturday afternoon and despite defeat by 3-6 to 0-10, the team will be pleased with several aspects of their performance.

Narrow defeat for seniors in league decider

Newmarket endured the narrowest of defeats in the Division 3 Football League Final against Eire Og, played at Mourne Abbey on Sunday, a close and entertaining contest throughout, ending 1-11 to 0-13 in favour of the Muskerry side.

PIFC, twelve months on

Twelve months ago today, the Newmarket footballers entered the history books by winning the Premier Intermediate Football Championship at Páirc Uí Chaoimh.

Since then, the team has secured senior status and topped division 3, with the league final still to be played.

A classy Pobal Ui Chaoimh side claimed the North Cork Minor B Football Championship final after overturning a two goal second half deficit against Newmarket at Millstreet on Friday night. A fine spectacle ending 1-14 to 2-8 as a quite stunning second half performance left Newmarket reeling.

Strong second half display seals win for minors

With the teams having gone in level at half time, the Newmarket minor football team turned on a commanding and dominant second half display, to progress to the semi final of the North Cork Minor B Football Championship, after overcoming Kildorrery by 3-14 to 2-7 at Liscarroll on Monday evening.

Juniors show spirit after slow start

Despite a nightmare opening fifteen minutes, Newmarket showed commendable spirit in defeat against Millstreet by 2-13 to 0-12 in the first round of the Kanturk Credit Union Duhallow Junior Football Championship played on a remarkably perfect playing surface in Ballydesmond on Saturday night.

Newmarket progress to Round 4 of the Evening Echo Senior Football Championship

Newmarket deservedly progressed into Round 4 of the Evening Echo Senior Football Championship as a typically outstanding team effort ensured victory over Aghada by 0-10 to 0-8 and another historic feat for the team, at Killavullen on Saturday night. As well as progression in the championship the second round victory also ensures the club’s senior status for a further twelve months at least.
