Newmarket endured a frustrating defeat against Clyda Rovers in the second round of the Evening Echo Premier Intermediate Football Championship played in splendid sunshine at picturesque Banteer on Saturday evening with the North Cork side advancing on a scoreline of 0-14 to 1-8.

Newmarket must now play Clyda Rovers in the second round of the Evening Echo Premier Intermediate football championship, following their narrow defeat to near neighbours Kiskeam by 1-9 to 0-11, in a closely contested first round game played in perfect conditions at Kanturk on Sunday.
