Newmarket progress to meet near neighbours Glenlara in Junior B championship

Newmarket Junior B footballers got off to a good start in the Junior B Football Championship on Friday night last away to Kiskeam. In wet and slippy conditions Newmarket emerged winners on a score line of 0-11 to 0-2 to progress to a quarter final against near neighbours Glenlara.

Team spirit sees Newmarket through to final

Newmarket have qualified for the Premier Intermediate Football Championship Final after another outstanding team effort fashioned a well earned victory over St. Vincent’s by 0-8 to 0-6, in a gripping semi final contest dictated by difficult breezy conditions at Ballyclough on Sunday afternoon.

Outstanding team effort helps Newmarket reach semi final

A wonderful display of football in the final quarter enabled Newmarket to progress to the semi final of the Evening Echo Premier Intermediate Football Championship following a fine quarter final replay victory over Naomh Aban by 2-11 to 1-7 in perfect conditions at sun drenched Dromtariffe on Saturday afternoon.

Intermediates progress to quarter final after impressive first half display

An outstanding all round team performance in the opening quarter enabled Newmarket to set a commanding platform for victory in the fourth round of the Evening Echo Premier Intermediate Football Championship by 0-13 to 0-6 over Ballinora at Macroom on Sunday and thus progress to a quarter final date for the first time in three years.

Newmarket and Clyda Rovers shared the spoils 0-14 to 2-8 in the intermediate league encounter played in Newmarket on Sunday afternoon, a pointed free with the final kick of the game denying a terrific Newmarket effort in the final quarter of the game.

Brosnan who lined out at half back for the Cork minor football team that defeated Clare in the Munster semi final at Ennis on Wednesday evening last and to Bart Daly who also lined out at half back in the Cork junior football team that defeated Clare in the first round of the Munster championship at Cork on Sunday afternoon.
