Greyhound Race Night in Curraheen

Newmarket GAA Club held a hugely successful fundraising night at Curraheen Park, Greyhound Track, Cork on Thursday evening last. A huge local contingent of all ages attended with a great night enjoyed by all. The club would like to extend sincere thanks to all who made this event such a success, especially sponsors, nominators, businesses, individuals and to all who generously contributed to the fundraising drive.

The result of the draw on the tickets sold was: 1st: Michael O’Flynn €300, 2ND: Olive O’Flynn €200, 3rd: Liam Allen €100. The winners of the nominators draw were Charles J. O’Connor, Sean Noonan and Brendan Stack

Fundraising night at Curraheen Park Greyhound Track

Newmarket GAA Club are running a fundraising night at Curraheen Park, Greyhound Track, Cork on Thursday, August 30th.

Committee members are currently selling admission tickets which also entitles entry into a free raffle. Sponsorship and dog nominations are also available. All support is greatly appreciated.

Congratulations to Newmarket player Denys O’Brien and the large Duhallow contingent involved in the Cork junior football team that claimed the All Ireland title by defeating Wexford in the final played on Friday evening last.

Big weekend of championship action for Newmarket in Hurling and Football

The under 21 footballers are playing in the first round of the County under 21 football championship this Friday, the 13th of July, at 7:30pm against Glanmire in Kildorrery. Newmarket won the Duhallow championship after a Replay against Boherbue back in April.

The Junior hurlers are in championship action this Sunday, the 15th of July, at 1.45pm against Freemount in Meelin. The teams have already met in the league earlier in the year with Freemount coming out on top. The lads should be boosted by their last performance against Kilgarvan in the league.

GAA Open Night, Friday May 18th, 2007

Newmarket GAA invites members, friends and supporters to come along to the GAA club rooms on Friday, May 18th to review work completed over the past six months and to preview plans for the next six months. All are more than welcome.

Club Membership

Sunday, May 13th, 2007

Club membership for the year is closing on June 4th. Membership is €25 for adults and €15 for students.

Only club members are eligible to apply for inter county game tickets. Membership can be paid to any member of the committee.

Defibrillator Course

Monday, April 2nd, 2007

Training in the proper use of the Defibrillator at our GAA Grounds will take place on Saturday, April 21st. Training will be provided by the Irish Red Cross. It is vital as many players and club mentors as possible avail of this opportunity. If an emergency did occur at our grounds, the more people proficient in the use of the defibrillator the better chance of saving someone’s life.

Coming fixtures

Wednesday, March 28th, 2007

What is a busy few days for the club begins tonight with the intermediate footballers playing away to Mallow in the league at 6:30pm, quickly followed by the minor footballers away to Kanturk also in the league at 6:45pm.

Friday the junior footballers take on Castlemagner at home in the Ducon Cup at 6:45pm.

Sunday sees the minor footballers out in the league at home to Dromtarriffe at 12:00pm. At the same time the intermediate footballers take on Newcestown in Newcestown in the premier intermediate league.

Coming Fixtures

The junior footballers are away to Ballydesmond on Sunday, the 18th of March, at 3:00pm.

The minor footballers begin their season on Monday, the 19th of March, in the league against Kilshannig in Kilshannig at 5:00pm.

Finally, the under 21 footballers will play the winners of this weekend’s quarter-final match between Knocknagree and Kiskeam in the championship semi-final on Saturday the 24th of March.

Spring/Summer Fashion Show

Mark Of Respect

As a mark of respect to the late Diarmuid O’Brien, all club activities for the past week were cancelled. These included all club teams training sessions, the under 21 football championship tie against Kiskeam and the premier intermediate football league game against Newcestown.
