Junior footballers start Ducon Cup with a win
The junior footballers commence the Ducon Cup campaign with a win away to Lyre.
The match was played under lights on the excellent 4g pitch in Banteer, Newmarket got out of the traps quick and after 15 minutes lead on a scoreline of 1-05 to 0-01, the goal coming after good build up play with Michael Lane adding the finishing touch. Newmarket added six more points before half time, taking a lead of 1-11 to 0-02 in at the break.
In the second half Newmarket added a further 1-08 to their tally, with Kevin O’Sullivan adding a goal to his personnel tally of 1-04. The final score Newmarket 2-19 to Lyre 0-06.
