Seniors head for Páirc Uí Chaoimh
Newmarket’s senior footballers return to Páirc Uí Chaoimh this Saturday after a gap of two years, to take on Newcestown in the penultimate stage of this year’s championship.
The Duhallow side qualified directly to the semi-final on the back of winning group B and ranking in the top two, after the round robin games were complete. Newcestown, who finished runners up in group C, overcame Kanturk on penalties in the quarter-finals to reach Saturday’s game. Fixtures between the sides have a history of being close contests, with replays required in the 2000 intermediate league decider and the 2001 Intermediate championship semi-final, with Newmarket securing the league in 2000 and Newcestown overcoming Newmarket in the most dramatic championship semi-final replay the year after.
The double-header on Saturday also sees Knocknagree take on Dohenys, as the four teams battle it out to become two. Entry to the game is ticket only, with Newmarket’s game throwing in at 3pm. Please come out and support the team on this great occasion. Áth Trasna Abú!
