The Junior B hurlers fell to a narrow defeat at home in Newmarket to Dromtarriffe on Tuesday the 8th of August.

In what was the opening round of the championship, the hosts led by a point on 15 minutes, a goal and two to four points. The sides were all square at the interval 2-05 to 0-11, with Dromtarriffe having much the better of the third quarter, where they opened up a five point advantage. To their credit, Newmarket battled back to trail only by a point in the closing minutes, but were unable to find the equalising score, going down to a 2-14 to 1-18 defeat.
