Junior B’s in seventh heaven

The Junior B hurlers of Newmarket proved far too powerful for Millstreet on the evening of 6th of June, with the home side registering an impressive 7-23 to 0-09 win.

Early scores from Rory Lynn (3), Kevin O’Sullivan (3), Paul Verling, Eddie Allen and Niall Collins (2), gave Newmarket a commanding eight point lead at the quarter hour mark. Lynn bagged the first of the goals on 18 minutes, with Robert Stack striking the second, minutes later. Points from Kevin 0’Sullivan, Gavin Forde (2, 1×45), Stack and Lynn (2, 1f) confirmed Newmarket’s dominance at the break, where they led 2-16 to 0-04.

The home side continued to strengthen their position in the second half, with points from Robert Stack (0-02), Colin O’Sullivan, Paul Verling and Gavin Forde. Two well taken goals from Kevin O’Sullivan and Niall Collins meant they led 4-21 to 0-06 points, with fifteen minutes to play. Further scores from Robert Stack and Paul Verling on 50 and 53 minutes completed Newmarket’s points tally, but Stack was not done yet as he rattled off three late goals, to complete a resounding 7-23 to 0-09 win.
