Seniors lose out away to Macroom

Macroom took the points on Saturday last, in the latest round of the Cork Credit Unions football county league.

Playing at home, Macroom, with the aid of an early goal, held a 0-02 to 1-03 lead at quarter hour mark. They continued to dominate the scoring and took a six point advantage into the break, 0-04 to 1-07.

Newmarket endeavoured to work their way into the contest and narrowed the arrears through a Conor O’Keeffe goal entering the last 20 minutes, with it leaving four between the sides, 1-06 to 1-10. The scoring remained even over the next quarter hour, as the home side maintained their advantage. A late 1-02 from Macroom confirmed their deserved 1-09 to 2-15 victory.

While not the result Newmarket had hoped for, they can positives from the contest, having welcomed back Cork senior footballer Aidan Browne, after a long injury lay-off.
