Robert Emmets Bounce Back
Robert Emmets bounced back from their recent 2-11 to 2-16 defeat at the hands of Kanturk, to overcome BK Plunketts, in the latest round of the Duhallow under 21 football championship.
Starting brightly, Emmets ran into an early 1-01 to no score lead in Banteer on Sunday evening. The opposition slowly worked their way back into the contest, registering the next three scores. The sides traded further points, but Emmets struck again with another vital goal, just before half time. Two additional points a piece, left the scoreboard reading 2-05 to 0-05, at the short whistle.
The Boherbue and Knocknagree combination dominated the resumption, narrowing gap to just a goal, with 20 minutes remaining. Both sides found scoring opportunities, with Emmets managing to restore their lead to five points, 2-09 to 0-10, as the game entered the final stages. Two late points for BK Plunketts reduced the arrears, but Emmets held out to win 2-09 to 0-12, under the Banteer lights.
The Newmarket and Lismire outfit must now wait for other group matches to complete, before knowing their future in the Central Sports Kanturk sponsored competition.
