The Newmarket Junior B Hurlers took on Kilbrin in Round 1 of the championship on Saturday evening, the 18th September.

It was Newmarket who got off to the brighter start, leading 1-02 to 0-01 after ten minutes. Both sides added scores in the intervening period, but Newnarket maintained a goal advantage over the opposition, to lead 1-06 to 0-06 entering the final six minutes of the half. A busy last few minutes saw Newmarket stretch their lead to six, ensuring they entered the dressing rooms in control, 1-10 to 0-07 up.

In a competitive third quarter, Kilbrin narrowed the gap to four, trailing 1-13 to 0-12, entering the final water break. The last period belonged to Newmarket though, as they hit 2-06 in the time, to secure a 3-19 to 0-14 victory.
