Hugh O’Connor guides Cork minors to title
Co-captain Hugh O’Connor put on a match winning performance for the Cork minor footballers in their final against Limerick on Wednesday evening last.
Scoring 1-01 inside the first three minutes, Hugh contributed 1-03 of Cork’s first half total of 1-06. Scoring again on 38 minutes, his side found themselves in an unexpected position of trailing by a point with 15 minutes to go, With Cork’s title challenge in serious danger, Hugh moved to a more central role, winning vital ball around the middle of the field and scoring an excellent point on 19 minutes, to level up the sides. Two further late scores in a 1-07 man of the match performance, ensured his side won out and Hugh and his co-captain Rory O’Shaughnessy raised the Tadhg Crowley Cup on a wonderful night.
