Free scoring Ryan O’Keeffe stars for Footballers
The Newmarket Junior A Footballers opened their league account, with a win over Knocknagree, on Thursday evening, the 18th of June.
Playing away from home, Ryan O’Keeffe got Newmarket off to a bright start, with a point from play in the opening minute, followed by a free shortly after. Knocknagree responded well with a brace of scores, levelling up the game on seven minutes. Cathal Browne quickly restored Newmarket’s lead, but Knocknagree grew in confidence, scoring five unanswered points, to lead 0-03 to 0-08 after nineteen minutes. The visitors rallied, scoring the next two points, with scores from the boot of David Cottrell and Eddie Allen.
