Fire Power Key As Newmarket See Off Kanturk In Duhallow U21 Hurling Championship
Newmarket’s eye for goal was a key factor as they defeated Kanturk in the Duhallow U21A Championship round robin on a scoreline of 0-15 to 4-16. The game was played July 24th in Newmarket.
The teams traded early scores before Aidan Browne made a run through the centre of the kanturk defence, before putting the ball past the Kanturk keeper on the fifth minute. Minor player Cian Crowley hit two great scores before another minor star, young Paddy Browne dispatched a low shot passed the on rushing goalkeeper. The teams traded points prior to the break and Newmarket lead on a score line of Newmarket 2-07 V Kanturk 0-06 at half time.
Kanturk hit three early scores of the second half before the home side hit a killer blow when Cathal Browne driving an unstoppable shot to the opposition net. Kanturk continued to fight and hit some fine points, however young Crowley’s excellent free taking and another Cathal Browne goal helped Newmarket to a 4-16 to 0-15 victory.
