Last Minute Penalty Ended Newmarket’s Hopes Of Retaining The Tom Creedon Cup
A penalty in the dying moments helped Ballingeary to a 4-15 to 4-14 victory over Newmarket in the 2018 Tom Creedon Cup final. The game was played Saturday May 5th in Macroom.
A cracking encounter, the balance of power varied over the hour between two familiar opponents meeting in the third consecutive final. Both sets of teams showed there attacking intent from the off. With the lead changing hands numerous times over the course of the game the game shaped into a mighty contest with end to end stuff. The killer blow came for Newmarket in the 59 miniute when Ballingeary were awarded there second penalty of the game in which there substitute dispatched coolly to the Newmarket net to leave Ballingeary winning on a score line of Ballingeary 4-15 V Newmarket 4-14.
