Newmarket goal scoring ability proved to be the key factor in a win over Dromtariffe in the Junior Hurling league.

Newmarket found the net three times in the first 10 minutes. Kevin O’Sullivan registered the first after picking a breaking ball and smashing a shot to the back of the net. Barry O’Connor scored the second after running on to a nice pass from Colin O’Sullivan to fire pass the Dromtariffe goalkeeper. Donal Hannon scored the third after a fine finish to the top corner. Newmarket led 3-01 to 2 points after 10 minutes. Newmarket indiscipline for the rest of the half left Dromtariffe back into the game and the half time score line read Newmarket 3-03 Dromtariffe 0-11.

Newmarket started the second half brightly with Kevin O’Sullivan and Donal Hannon raising white flags. Donal Hannon registered his second goal of the game after a long delivery found it’s way to the net. A minute later Donal Hannon was on hand a gain the score his hat-trick with a fine finish. Further points from Donal Hannon and Barry O’Connor left Newmarket leading 5-11 to 15 points with 7 minutes remaining. 1-3 without reply in the last 5 minutes for Dromtariffe was all in vain as Newmarket ran out comfortable winners 5-11 to 1-18.
