When Bart Daly leads Newmarket against Kiskeam in next Sundays county premier intermediate football championship, it will mark the 21st year that the men in black and red will play in this championship.

Hurlers suffer first defeat

A strong display in the final ten minutes from a sharper Tullylease side inflicted a first league defeat for the Newmarket hurlers, 2-20 to 2-16 in a high scoring league game played at Newmarket on Tuesday evening.

Junior B footballers defeated

Newmarket were defeated in their second junior B football league outing at home to Boherbue by 1-14 to 1-9 at Newmarket on Wednesday evening.

Newmarket in red and white

Congratulations to Michael Cottrell who played with the Cork minor football team who recorded a huge victory over Limerick in the Munster championship at Páirc Uí Rinn last Wednesday evening. T.J. Brosnan was a member of the Cork under 21 football squad that lost out narrowly to Roscommon in the All Ireland Semi Final played at Portlaoise on Saturday.

Newmarket lead the table scoring 8-46 and conceding 2-25, Freemount have scored 8-38 and conceded 4-31.

Upcoming Fixtures 11-04-14

Tonight at 7pm our Junior B footballers are at home to Cullen in the league. This team started their campaign last weekend in impressive fashion against Ballydesmond.

In Dunmanway at 1pm on Sunday our intermediate footballers play Dohenys in the league at the Sam Maguire park.

Its on to mallow on Monday night when the Duhallow senior footballers face imokilly in county championship.

And on Wednesday night next our Junior B footballers face Boherbue in the league at 7 pm at Newmarket.

Superb win makes it three in a row

Newmarket’s junior hurlers made it three wins from three outings following a fine victory away to Kilbrin on a sunny Sunday afternoon by 3-14 to 2-7.
