Newmarket GAA AGM 2013
The Annual General Meeting of Newmarket GAA Club took place on Sunday afternoon in the Clubhouse meeting room.
Outgoing Club Chairman Victor Lane opened the meeting before Life President Con Collins addressed the meeting. Outgoing Secretary Conor O’Sullivan delivered the annual report before Club Treasurer Neilie McCarthy presented a comprehensive financial report. Victor Lane then delivered his Chairman’s address.
Amongst the playing highlights covered was the championship success of the Junior B football team who won the Duhallow title for the second time in the club’s history and the success of the amalgamated Newmarket/Lismire under 21 teams Robert Emmets. The under 21 football team captured the Duhallow under 21 B football championship final and progressed to a county final while the hurling team reached the Duhallow Final for a second successive year.
T.J. Brosnan who won a Munster under 21 football medal with Cork and played in the All Ireland Final, Donal Hannon who became the first Newmarket minor hurler to represent Cork at minor level since 1974 and Danny Culloty who served as a selector on the All Ireland winning Cork junior football team were congratulated on their exploits at inter county level.
Meelin GAA Club and Timmie Brosnan were thanked for their assistance, co-operation and tremendous contribution towards a joint fundraising boxing night, Clash of the County Champions held in February which was a tremendous success.
Club Development Officer, Dan O’Riordan outlined the progress and plans in place for the future, the highlight undoubtedly, the current project in place which will see the installation within the club grounds, of an Astro Turf Pitch facility under the management of Newmarket Sport and Leisure Company.
Chairmen Danny McAuliffe and Michael Lynch spoke on behalf of their respective clubs, the Newmarket Juvenile GAA Club and Newmarket Ladies Football Club. Both clubs were congratulated on their successes during the year.
County Board Delegate Nelius Collins then presided over the election of officers.
