Fine display for Robert Emmets, but the cup goes to Canovee

Although ultimately defeated by a very fine Canovee side, Robert Emmets emerged from the County Under 21 B Football Championship Final with immense credit and plaudits, following their contribution to an exhilarating contest played at Páirc Ui Rinn on a balmy Friday evening. At the end of the hour, there was little disputing the worthy county champions but Robert Emmets played their part in a fascinating game which ended 3-12 to 2-11.

Seniors face relegation battle

Newmarket bowed out of the Cork County Senior Football Championship following a most disappointing defeat, by 1-8 to 0-5 against St. Vincents in a poor quality contest played at Mallow on Sunday afternoon. Newmarket now face an uphill battle and a relegation playoff encounter against St. Nicks in order to maintain their senior status. On a day of utter frustration, the fact that Newmarket held numerical advantage entering the closing fifteen minutes, when the sides were level and failed to register another score further compounds the misery.

Narrow defeat for Under 21 Hurlers

Robert Emmets went down to a slender two point defeat against Kanturk, 0-13 to 0-11 following a tight and gripping contest played on a perfect sunny evening in Newmarket last Monday, before a fine attendance.

Seniors lose out to St Michaels in league

The Newmarket senior football team travelled to Blackrock on Thursday evening for a Division 2 League contest, but went down to a clear defeat against an impressive St. Michaels by 2-11 to 0-8.

Fine comeback seals place in final for Robert Emmets

Robert Emmets have qualified for the County Under 21 B Football Championship Final following a quite sensational second half comeback, where they turned around a half time deficit of nine points, managed to keep their opponents scoreless in the second half and pull off a two point victory, 1-11 to 1-9 against Kilworth at sunny Buttevant on Wednesday evening.

Congratulations to Donal Hannon

Congratulations to Donal Hannon who was introduced as an extra time substitute on the Cork minor hurling team that were eventually defeated by Waterford in the Munster Semi Final played at Páirc Uí Rinn last Wednesday night. In doing so, Donal became the first Newmarket player since 1974 to play for the Cork minor hurling team.

Quinlan and Culloty make decisive contributions

Robert Emmets held out to edge past Aghada by a point, 3-4 to 0-12 in the County Under 21 B football championship, played at Ballyhooly on Friday night. A hat trick of goals from Daniel Culloty, the latter two converted from the penalty spot, proved the pivotal scores to a hard earned victory, while at the other end, team captain David Quinlan proved a colossus in goals with a series of wonderful saves throughout.
