Newmarket suffered a disappointing home intermediate league defeat to Kinsale on Sunday afternoon with the visitors claiming a clear victory by 1-13 to 1-5.

Mark Reidy pointed superbly a minute later and T.J. Bodie converted a free in the eighth minute to give Newmarket a five point advantage. Kinsale opened their account with a thirteenth minute point before they found the target on a regular basis during the final ten minutes of the half. They reeled over five points in succession in an eight minute period to turn the game in their favour. Newmarket did regain parity with a T.J. Bodie free from the final kick of the half to leave the scoreline reading 1-3 to 0-6 at the interval.
