Hurlers bow out of championship

Newmarket’s hurlers bowed out of the EPS Bison Duhallow Junior Hurling Championship when they were defeated by Tullylease in a second round contest played at Meelin on Saturday evening on a scoreline of 2-12 to 0-14.

Minor footballers defeated by Pobal Ui Chaoimh in the first round of the championship

Newmarket’s minor footballers were defeated by Pobal Ui Chaoimh in the first round of the championship, 0-13 to 1-5 at Boherbue on Monday evening.

Heavy defeat for junior hurlers

For the second successive year, Newmarket suffered a heavy defeat to near neighbours and defending Duhallow champions, Meelin in the opening round of the EPS Bison championship by 3-15 to 1-4 in a contest played in an incessant downpour of rain in Newmarket on Thursday evening last.

Minor hurlers just fall short

A battling second half performance just fell short as Newmarket fought back from a ten point half point deficit to narrowly lose out to Croke Rovers by 2-13 to 2-11 in a minor hurling league game played at Newmarket on Monday evening.

Newmarket footballers bow out of Intermediate Football Championship

Newmarket’s footballers bowed out of the Evening Echo Premier Intermediate Football Championship with a third round defeat to Glenville by 1-11 to 1-8 at Mourne Abbey on Friday night. They now face the prospect of a relegation playoff match against Glanmire which Newmarket must win in order to retain their premier status.
