Newmarket defeated by Dromtariffe in opening minor hurling league game
Newmarket were defeated by Dromtariffe in their opening minor hurling league game at the latters venue on Wednesday evening by 3-18 to 2-4.
Newmarket were aided by a strong breeze in the first half and some fine passages of play yielded scores from Darren O’Keeffe while Nicky Barrett was on hand to score two goals. They were left to rue a string of wides as the home side turned over in front by 3-6 to 2-3.
The wind lifted significantly in the second half and Newmarket struggled as a consequence. The sole score of the half came courtesy of the very impressive Bryan O’Connell.
