Newmarket Minor Footballers kicked back from a disappointing championship exit to qualify to the league final after defeating Lyre on a scoreline of 2-5 to 1-7 in Banteer last Sunday afternoon. The game was played in difficult and greasy conditions in Banteer which made for plenty handling errors and it was not a day for free flowing football.
Newmarket were defeated by Lismire in the Junior B hurling championship game played at Newmarket on Sunday morning by 1-14 to 1-8.
Newmarket’s minor footballers bowed out of the championship at the semi final stage when they were disappointingly defeated by Kanturk at Kiskeam on Wednesday evening in difficult conditions by 1-9 to 0-2.
Newmarket GAA club would like to thank and acknowledge the phenomenal support the under 21 team received in the build up and the huge volume of support received on the night of the game. The club would like to thank all who contributed to the team fund and all who went to the effort of decking out the town and area in the clubs colours all of which added to a wonderful occasion.
