Newmarket minor footballers defeat Cullen
Newmarket’s minor footballers completed their league campaign in fine fashion when they travelled to Cullen and defeated the home side by 3-9 to 3-8.
Newmarket got off to a great start when Jeremiah Lane finished confidently to the back of the Cullen net in the third minute. Cullen pointed in the sixth minute but a minute later Jeremiah Lane again found the net after showing great composure when presented with his chance. Ian Flanagan added a free as Newmarket enjoyed a two goal lead after eleven minutes play. Cullen struck for a goal but Ian Flanagan replied with a point for Newmarket. Two Cullen points reduced the deficit to two points but Newmarket were boosted when T.J Brosnan found the net for his sides third goal of the half. The prolific Jeremaih Lane added a point for good measure but it was Cullen who finished the half strongly thanks to a goal and a point as a high scoring half ended 3-3 to 2-4 in Newmarket’s favour.
Newmarket kept their lead intact and points from Anthony Lynch and Bryan O’Connell ensured a narrow win.
