Intermediate footballers maintain good league form

Monday, June 30th, 2008

Newmarket concluded their preparations for next Saturday’s championship quarter final against Glenville, when they travelled to Brinny on Sunday to take on Valley Rovers and they emerged from the top of the table league contest with a fine victory by 2-11 to 1-7.

Under 21 footballers draw in tight contest

Newmarket and Carrigaline drew 0-7 apiece in a tight contest in the County Under 21 football championship quarter final played at Donoughmore on Saturday evening.

Hurlers defeated in championship

Newmarket’s junior hurlers were defeated by near neighbours Meelin by 0-12 to 0-5 in the opening round of the EPS Bison Duhallow championship played on an awful evening on an immaculate playing surface at the latter’s venue on Tuesday evening.

Footballers win Dan Casey Memorial Cup

Well done to the Newmarket team that participated in the Dan Casey Memorial Cup, seven a side competition in Kiskeam recently and came away victors. They defeated the home side in the final on a scoreline of 2-12 to 2-09. The panel of players were Kevin O’Connor ( captain), Tadhg O’Sullivan, Kevin O’Sullivan, Bart Daly, Gerard Casey, Timothy Murphy, T.J. Bodie, John Ryan and Maurice Feehan.

Culloty lines out for Cork

Best of luck to Daniel Culloty who lines out for Cork in this Sunday’s primary football game at the Gaelic Grounds in Limerick. Daniel will play against a Limerick selection during half time of the Munster senior football semi final between Cork and Limerick.

Newmarket defeated in the semi final of the Singleton Cup

Newmarket were defeated by Kilgarvan in the semi final of the Singleton Cup by 2-9 to 0-13 at Knocknagree on Tuesday evening.

O’Leary salvages a draw with late point

A point with the final kick of the contest from centre half back, Barry O’Leary salvaged a draw and a fitting result for Newmarket against Ballinora at the latters venue in splendid sunshine on Monday in their latest intermediate league game, the final result reading 2-10 to 1-13.
