On the same day the All Ireland Hurling finals took place at Croke Park and this game was relayed to the crowd at the Town Park. Kilkenny defeated Waterford by 4-10 to 3-12.
Three weeks later Cork were beaten by Louth in the All Ireland final 1-7 to 1-9. Six of the team that lined out against Kerry played in that game. Admission was 10 shillings and dancing was 9pm to 1am. The Amantes quartet from Mallow were the relief band on that night to Dermot O’Brien.
