Intermediates Draw in Premier League
Newmarket and Kiskeam played out an entertaining draw in the premier intermediate league game played at Newmarket last Thursday evening, the sides ending tied a 1-12 apiece.
T.J. Bodie and John Cronin kicked Newmarket into an early lead before Kiskeam hit back with two points. Bart Daly converted a 45 and Seanie Francis O’Connor were on target before Kiskeam got a third point. Micheal Hourigan, John Cronin, T.J. Bodie and Seanie Francis O’Connor scored a series of points as Newmarket built up a five point advantage. Kiskeam had their fourth point before striking for their goal two minutes before half time. The teams then exchanged two points with Seanie Francis O’Connor scoring for Newmarket, leaving the score at half time 0-9 to 1-5.
Kiskem resumed with two points before some fine build up play ended with the impressive Kevin O’Connor finding the net from ten yards, eight minutes into the half. Kiskeam then added two points the tie the sides again. David O’Flynn and Seanie Francis O’Connor edged Newmarket in front again but Kiskeam again replied with two points. With the game entering the final stages Colin O’Sullivan landed a huge long distance point for Newmarket but there was still time for Kiskeam to rescue a draw in the final action of the game restoring parity for a fifth and final time.
