Minors Maintain 100% Record
The minor footballers completed their league programme with an unblemished record after defeating Naomh Aban in a keenly contested game by 3-9 to 2-6 at Newmarket last Tuesday evening.
Despite points from John Lane and Bart Daly twice, Newmarket found themselves trailing by 1-4 to 0-3, five minutes from the interval. Conor Cronin then pointed for Newmarket before some excellent teamwork resulted in Nicky Flanagan drilling home a super goal from twenty yards to tie the scores at 1-4 apiece at half time.
John Lane pointed as the sides exchanged early scores before the balance of the game swung in Newmarkets favour when Jerry McCarthy pounced for two goals in a five minute spell either side of a point he also scored. Naomh Aban had a second goal with minutes remaining but Robert Stack and Ian Flanagan pointed to seal the issue for Newmarket.
