A gallant Newmarket team were eventually well put away by Millstreet , 0-19 to 1-6 in the first game of the EPS Bison Duhallow hurling championship game, played in ideal conditions at a resplendent Banteer on Saturday evening.

Well done to Denys O’Brien and his involvement in both the Cork junior and Duhallow senior footballers recent victories and to the other Newmarket players and selector Paul Murphy on Duhallow’s advancement to the quarter finals of the county senior football championship.

Newmarket’s junior hurlers are in championship action on Saturday evening when they take on Millstreet in Banteer at 7pm. The group of four also contains Kilbrin and Tullylease.

Newmarket completed their Ducon Cup campaign against Dromtariffe on Wednesday evening and came within minutes of a fine victory before the defending champions produced a whirlwind finish to win by 2-10 to 1-9.
