Juniors Beat Millstreet in Ducon Cup
On Tuesday evening the Newmarket Juniors travelled to Millstreet and notched up their second win of the campaign when they defeated the home team by 0-11 to 0-8.
Early points from Kevin O’Connor and John Lane gave Newmarket a good start but the home team hit back scoring four points in succession, in a game played in greasy conditions. Newmarket finished the half well and a John Cronin point sandwiched between two from T.J. Bodie had them in front again. The sides turned over level after a Millstreet point, at 0-5 each, having been level three times during an even half.
Newmarket restarted strongly with the impressive duo of Jerry McCarthy (twice) and John Cronin scoring some fine points. Millstreet were next to score but the in form John Cronin kept Newmarket in front, scoring three more points to enable Newmarket to run out victorious by a three point margin at the finish.
