Juniors Get a Win in the Ducon Cup
Newmarket recorded their first victory in this seasons Ducon Cup at the fourth attempt, when they impressively defeated Kiskeam by 1-14 to 1-6 at Newmarket last Tuesday evening.
Kiskeam pointed first but Newmarket settled with points from Kevin O’Connor, John Cronin and Kevin O’Sullivan. Kiskeam goaled next before a Kevin O’Connor point tied the sides. Kiskeam hit the front again but a Newmarket side in full flow turned things around thanks to points from John Lane, T.J. Bodie and Kevin O’Connor , to lead at half time by 0-7 to 1-2.
Kiskeam pointed first after the restart but Newmarket turned on a fine display of fast flowing football which yielded four points in succession from Kevin O’Connor, John Cronin, Trevor Murphy and Donal O’Sullivan. Kiskeam had the next point but Newmarket took a commanding eight point lead when John Lane coolly slotted the ball to the back of the next from ten yards, eleven minutes from time. Two fine points from Shane Anthony Murphy rounded off a good win for Newmarket.
